A work of art by Kiki van Eijk that expresses in a layered and sensitive way, the vulnerability, but also the power of a pregnancy with complications.
The artwork consists of a contrast between light and dark, and stands for getting out of balance and coming back into balance at a later stage. Two hearts in one. The large, delicate heart of lace represents the vascular system, but also the fragility and beauty of the vulnerable. The small, soft, felted heart symbolizes the baby, whether or not in the here and now. The deep blue color is a sign of strength, partly covered with a pink layer. A clear layer that sits behind the other layers and holds everything together.
On October 8, Eva Jinek received the first silkscreen of Chahinda Ghossein, researcher and chairman of Stichting Queen of Hearts, and Kiki van Eijk.
