Kiki & Joost: Open Doors Milan 2026

Ciao Milano,
This year, Kiki & Joost are part of four exhibitions: each unfolding in its own form and spirit. Two doors that open into different worlds, carpets that turn a room into shelter, an urn that holds memory, and a cabinet of curiosities ten years in the making.
Come find us, we’d love to see you.

Porte
Kiki and Joost were invited by Rossana Orlandi to rethink one of design’s most overlooked archetypes: the door. Not a mechanism, but a threshold — charged with meaning, full of surprise. Two doors, two worlds waiting behind them.

Funky Punky — by Joost
A saloon door, bursting with color and shape: wild, joyful, unapologetically bold. A punk aesthetic:  lively and full of expression. Once you pass through, objects echo this same energy. Unexpected combinations of materials and forms, waiting on the other side.

Collage Stories — by Kiki
Elongated, with flowing curves and a playful protrusion, clad in glossy mandarin-orange ceramic tiles and marked with spring-blue wax crayon – this is a door unlike any other. Kiki layers materials, shapes, and textures in a collage-like manner: a playful freedom that spills through. Once you step inside, objects unfold in the same spirit.

Echo — for Urna Unica

Objects carry words and memories. This urn is conceived as a contemporary altar for memory: a quiet, sculptural vessel that holds what remains and makes space for reflection.

Kiki brings together personal elements into a composition that is tender and still.

ROOM — El Espartano

Our friend Lidewij Edelkoort invited five women, friends and designers to reflect on the interior as a place of shelter and intimacy. Kiki is one of them.

ROOM is a collection of tufted rugs developed in collaboration with El Espartano, an Argentine artisanal textile design and rug manufacturing company. Eleven limited-

edition pieces exploring the room as a personal territory. As Lidewij puts it: “Even a small room can give us the peace we so need.”

Kiki contributes fantastical tufted carpets, rich in color and texture, conceived in her iconic textile collage technique.

A room made by friends. Come in.

With Carole Baijings, Ina Meijer, Mariola Lopez Mariño, and Lidewij Edelkoort.
